Capt. Gaurav Khanna is an independent maritime safety consultant and Master Mariner with 18 years at sea and 13 years ashore. — sailing on product tankers and crude carriers across every major trade route, from the Persian Gulf to the North Sea and Baltic in winter.
Coming ashore in 2013, I moved into fleet management with a Japanese ship management company — rising to Sr. Deputy General Manager and Branch Head, with direct responsibility for fleet safety, vetting performance, and SMS compliance across a mixed tanker fleet.
As a maritime safety consultant, Capt. Khanna founded founded VragaMarine in 2021 because I kept seeing the same gap: ship managers buying compliance services from people who had never actually managed a ship. The forms were right. The culture wasn’t.
